Sarah and David have already given us some Christmas thoughts, so I’m taking my turn.
First and foremost, it’s the time to help others, and I’m donating to two of my favorite causes: the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, supporter of First Amendment rights for comic book creators, publishers, retailers and readers, and The Hero Initiative, which provides financial assistance to creators who have given more to the industry than they’ve received in return. A small amount is great. If we can get 100 people to give $10 each, two very worthy causes can make a thousand dollars to put toward two very good causes.
You can donate to the CBLDF here. Their site takes your favorite credit or ATM card.
You can donate to the Hero Initiative here. Paypal payments can be sent online, or send your checks to the address provided.
And of course, if any of our wonderful and loyal readers want to send physical gifts to us hardworking Newsarama contributors, I do maintain an Amazon wishlist. I’d suggest starting with the archival comic strip reprints. Complete Peanuts 1967-1970 box; Popeye vol. 3: Let’s You and Him Fight; Complete Terry and the Pirates vol. 5; or Scorchy Smith and the Art of Noel Nickles. I would like to check out those Kamandi Archives from DC, too. They’ve hooked me with their Kirby reprints.
