Tired of Top Ten Lists yet? I know I am.
But today AFI released its top ten films of 2008 list on Sunday, and it is perhaps no surprised that the two superhero blockbusters that dominated summer sales are both on the list.
The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan’s sprawling treatise on the nature of good and evil, ranked #2 on AFI’s list, coming up short only to the Brad Pitt vehicle The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Meanwhile, Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr., hit #6, beating out films such as WALL-E and The Wrestler.
The list was compiled by a 13-person jury of “scholars, critics, and AFI trustees,” led by Entertainment Tonight critic Leonard Maltin.

not to be a total @#$%, but you should know that the list is alphabetical and NOT numerical. that’s why The Dark Knight was #2, and Iron Man beat out two movies that started with the letter “W” – here’s the list on the AFI site http://www.afi.com/tvevents/afiawards08/default.aspx – if you actually read the Variety article they say that the list is in alphabetical order.
