With a story that sounds a bit like Super Human Resources combined with Austin Grossman’s novel Soon I Will Be Invincible, Marvel has unveiled a description and nine-page preview of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ upcoming Incognito #1, about a supervillain who is suffering through depression and boredom while in the Witness Protection Program.

Can’t Wait!
I’m glad that Brubaker and Phillips are continuing the tone from Criminal.

I’m so excited about the release of this book. Criminal is such an amazing title–this is one of those creative teams that you just want to go on and on like Morrison and Quitely or Millar and Hitch.

I didn’t read Criminal, but I believe the hype. This Incognito preview was awesome. I usually never say this but I will be picking this up! Brubaker is just one of those writers that just has it!

I didn’t want to read the preview, but I couldn’t help it. And I’m glad I did. I was getting this book before, and I was amped, but now… now I’m psyched.

I can’t imagine it’ll be near as funny as Super Human Resources, especially based on the preview, but it really looks aesthetically nice. I like the bold contrast brushwork and the color work is simple, which highlights the art.

In Brubaker I Trust.
Just when I’m getting jaded enough to stop buying comics almost altogether (I’m down to pretty much just Cap, GL now, though I get Ex Machina in trades… It kills me to drop the Batman books, but Morrison’s done fucked it all up), but then this comes along… Looks great! I should probably be reading Criminal and Bru’s Daredevil too.
