Variety is reporting that Marvel Studios has named Tim Connors as the company’s new chief operating officer. It’s a bump up the ladder for Connors, who’s been the executive VP of business affairs and operations for Marvel Studios for the past two years.

It’s good that Marvel promoted from within, instead of looking outside the company to fill the role. Lots of times when companies take the latter strategy, they end up hiring some moron with his own ideas about how to run things, leading to all sorts of bad decisions. It’s a pretty sweet gig for Connors, too. Punisher: War Zone aside, superhero movies are practically a license to print money these days, and Marvel Studios has a pretty good business model in place for the next few years.
