In case you missed it on the mothership this morning, NBC will be airing a two-part TV miniseries based on the comic series XIII, by Belgian creators Jean Van Hamme and William Vance. Scheduled for Feb. 8 & 15, XIII will fill NBC’s Sunday night slot for the two weeks after their Super Bowl XLIII.
Val Kilmer (one-time Batman), Stephen Dorff (Blade), Stephen McHattie (Watchmen) and Jessalyn Gilsig (NBC’s “Heroes”) star, so the cast has some comic book cred. How much cred I’ll leave up to you.
The plot revolves around the an amnesiac possible assassin wanted questioning in the murder of the first female U.S. president, and from what I’ve found, the tone of the French albums has been compared to Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity novel.
Although there have been a few aborted attempts to publish XIII in English, most recently via Dabel Bros./Marvel, but it seems that nobody’s gotten much past the sixth French edition, of nineteen possible volumes.

If NBC doesn’t take the Super Bowl’s “XLIII” and fade out the “L” in a commercial for this, then they fail at advertising.

Enjoyed the mini series but they left it dangling. Are they planning on turning it into a series? If not please do another movie to finish the story.
