The animated film Wonder Woman is set to premiere at the New York Comic Con in February, reps from Warner Bros. Animation have announced.
Produced by Batman mastermind Bruce Timm, Wonder Woman will chronicle the story of Diana of Themyscria, as she travels to “Man’s World” to battle the evil war god Ares.
The animated movie will feature the voice talents of Keri Russell as Wonder Woman, Nathan Fillion as Steve Trevor, as well as Alfred Molina, Virginia Madsen, and Rosario Dawson.
The 8:30pm screening on February 6th will be the first chance to see the film before it is released on DVD and Blu-Ray in March. Other animated films slated to be in development are Batman, Superman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and the Justice League.

I challenege the neccessity of having so much star power attached to these things. There have to be hundreds of talented voice actors who will work cheaper than Rosario Dawson.
Anyway, I’m excited!

I am excited not only for this film, but for the other films scheduled. I think that animation is the only way to save these characters. The books, other than main events, have become so predictable that they are just not worth buying anymore

I really think DC should produce a “Kingdom Come” animated movie. They definitely have the resources to do it. How awesome would that be?

I saw the trailer for this at SDCC at it got me more excited than the trailer for “Watchmen”. This looks to be the first movie to “get” Diana. Cannot wait until this is released.

Glad to hear there’s a Flash animated film in the works. Even if it’s several discs down the line, I expect we’ll see it before a live-action movie gets made.

Three words: Sinestro. Corps. War.

Timm and co. fell flat on their faces with Diana in the past, but this looks like a big improvement.

Diana from Justice League Unlimited is part of why I love the character so. With Gail Simone having written the first two drafts of this, I think it will be great. Plus, I love Keri and Nathan til my dying day.

I sure hope this is good… Aside from Bats: TAS, Supes: TAS, and the JL/JLU series were all pretty cool (none were perfect, though all were generally quite good), but the direct-to-DVD films have been really disappointing. I though Gotham Knight would rock my socks off, but that was a real mixed bag. If I hear good reviews for Wonder Woman, I’ll pick it up. I hadn’t heard about Gail’s involvement until Eric here mentioned it.
Seems odd that news of future animated films for Bats, Supes, Flash, GL and Justice League are just mentioned in passing here… Any details on any of these?
Will they be adaptations of existing comics, or new tales? Who’s writing them? Who’s voicing them? How will these be handled in conjunction with Nolan’s Bat-films, the forthcoming GL movie and the Supes movie reboot? Will the JL animated movie be a continuation of the TV show, and will it replace the ill-advised George Miller live film? Will I ever stop asking questions???

What does that idiot mean DC animated films do better than Marvel???!!! Spiderman 2 is widely considered the best comic movie ever made. Ummm, Spiderman 1 & 3 (# had its issues, yes, but was a commercial blockbuster), Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, while not as big as they hoped was still a great action film w/many ‘nods’ to the comic, all 3 X-Men films, 1 & 2 are critically applauded. And I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE w/the poster about the Teen Titans/Terra/Deathstroke saga. AWESOME story!!
