What’s Geoff Johns thankful for? (And some real news.)

December 2nd, 2008
Author David Pepose

Over at ye mighty Comic Bloc, Geoff Johns gave an amusing Thanksgiving note:

“Every once in awhile you need to celebrate the fact that comics exist. In an arena where negativity can run rampant over the years of joy comics have given us you need to give thanks. I guess it’s left over from Thanksgiving!”

I couldn’t agree more, Mr. Johns.

So in the spirit of the holiday (yeah, I know it’s over — it’s a mindset, people), what are the top ten moments you’re most thankful for in the comicsverse? It can be this year or all time!

(And if you’re interested in some real news: Mr. Johns speaks with MTV over secret identities and parallel universes for DC’s upcoming MMORPG DC Universe Online.)

  1. Diamondrock Says:

I’m thankful for Geoff Johns, actually. Also, Gail Simone, Doctor Polaris, and Giant Robots.

And wow, you new guys post at a frenetic pace, don’t you? Keep it up!

  2. Mechagamera Says:

Friends, family, health, continued employment, three giant monster comics being published in one month (I hope; can Firebreather come out two months in a row?), two jungle babe comics in one month, Gold Digger breaking 100, and all the other good comics that make it hard for me to pick which is first to read each week.

  3. Gladiator X Says:

I’m thankful for being able to have comics in my life for over 35 years and all the joy that they’ve brought me in that time.

I’m thankful for being able finally see one of the superheroes that I really dig on the big screen in a great movie! (Iron Man!)

I’m thankful that after this many years as a comic fan that I have great books featuring almost all of my all-time favorite characters each month (The Avengers,Thor, Capt. America, Iron Man, Ms Marvel, Black Panther, Moon Knight and Nova–Only missing Spiderwoman!)

I’m thankful for having numeroues places to discuss said comics and fandom like this website.

I’m thankful for being alive and healthy with a wonderful wife and family puts up with me and all my comicbook stuff.

    :D

  4. Dan Coyle Says:

That’s hilarious, since “joy” is usually the LAST thing one finds when reading a Geoff Johns comics.

  5. Gladiator X Says:

Dan, which would be why I don’t read any Geoff Johns comics anymore.
That doesn’t mean that I still don’t have tons of things that I like about this hobby and if I didn’t get tons of “joy” out of comics, I sure as hell wouldn’t still be reading and collecting the things.
Life’s too short to waste it on stuff that doesn’t make you happy.
