Yeah, I stole it from Rachel Maddow. So what?

I’m Sarah. The Best Shots guys used to call me the Token Female, and they still call me the Vertigal. Because, well, you guessed it, I have two X chromosomes and read most of what Vertigo puts out.

Like most women who read comics, I got started on the Sandman when I was a teenage goth girl. (They didn’t have Twilight back in the dark ages.) College friends put me onto Transmetropolitan and Preacher, and it’s been all downhill from there.

I’ve been writing for Best Shots here for what seems like forever, and I have my own personal blog here. I write about politics and current events occasionally at Global Comment, blog about comics and events for BUST.com (no, it’s not porn) and reviewed movies, music, and other fun things for Kaffeine Buzz. I’m also finishing my master’s in journalism right now at Temple University in Philly.

More interesting things about me:

1. I am a committed feminist, but my favorite three comics right now are probably Scalped, Northlanders, and The Boys. (I do not see this as a problem.)

2. My favorite movie is Blade Runner. I will talk about it for hours. Maybe on this blog.

3. I have lived in five states and driven completely cross-country.

4. I have four tattoos.

5. My biggest celebrity crush right now is Rahm Emanuel (you know you’re a nerd when…)

6. I am almost completely convinced that Watchmen is unfilmable. Not that it’s going to be bad, but that it will not be Watchmen. I may go on at length soon about why this is.

7. I have a degree in English, so I am quite aware that the Twilight books are awful, but I am having way too much fun with them right now.

8. I spend my spare time watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD.
