—Cartoonist Lora Innes’ hometown newspaper has a nice profile of her, occasioned by the fact that her webcomic The Dreamer, about a high school girl flung back to the year 1776, has recently begun being published as a paper-and-ink comic by IDW.
—Prominent political cartoonist and Duplex creator Glenn McCoy has a new children’s book out entitled I See Santa Everywhere that deals with Santa’s alleged ability to keep track of how kids are behaving at all times. The Illinois Belleville News-Democrat has a profile of their cartoonist McCoy and his book.
—NPR’s Sunday All Things Considered had a story about former NYC mayor Fiorello LaGuardia communicated with his constituents through the radio, including reading them Little Orphan Annie strips when a newsboy strike kept New Yorkers from getting their comic strip fix.
—Tucker Stone is one of my favorite comics critics, in large part because he seems to care about comics enough to yell and swear at them like they really deserve to be sometimes. I’d quote part of his Batman #681 review for you here, but I couldn’t find a part without swearing, and I’m not sure how much I can swear at Blog@ yet. Here’s how he lists the credits though, if that gives you a sense of his review:
Batman # 681
Theorized by Grant Morrison
Drawed Pictures by Tony Daniel
Attempted Picture Fix by Sandu Florea & Guy Major
Published, Interfered with and Will Eventually Be Apologized For by DC Comics
—Another one of my favorite comics critics, Joe “Jog” McCulloch also got around to a review of the same book, and he wasn’t all that impressed either.
—According to Rich Johnston’s Lying In The Gutters rumor column, Carlos Pacheco told a Spanish convention audience he’d be working on Mark Millar’s Ultimate Avengers. If actually true, then it sure would make it seem like Marvel is trying to find artists best-suited to keep up the title’s proud, delay-filled history, isn’t it?
—Prose writer Kelly Link’s latest book, Pretty Monsters, features a cover an illustrations by Shaun Tan of The Arrival fame. You can check out some of his illustrations here.

Small correction: Belleville is in Illinois, not Missouri, about a half hour east of St. Louis.

Thanks Jason; I corrected it.
