Thoughts on Batman: R.I.P.

December 1st, 2008
Author David Pepose

Over at Film Fodder, op-ed columnist Ryan offers an interesting look back at the conclusion of Batman R.I.P. He makes some interesting speculations on the future of the Batman franchise:

My guess is that the “death” of Batman is really Bruce Wayne overcoming the hypnotic command shouted at him by Dr. Hurt that he could no longer fight crime as Batman (note, it’s an unmasked Bruce Wayne who goes at the helicopter). So expect some story in which Bruce has to overcome his brainwashing, etc…

While there is certainly some critical remarks made, it’s definitely an in-depth piece adding to the still-lingering mystery leading to Battle for the Cowl. You can read the rest of the article here.

    Meh (which is apparently a real word now)… I’ll wait for Bruce’s actual return.

    Yet another period with someone other than Bruce acting as Batman… Does DC actually want us to stop buying their books? I’m doing a pretty good job of that lately. I guess if it nudges Didio a little bit closer to the exit, I’m all for it.

    @Shaun:
    You’re in the fucking minority.

    And Ray J, you’re a fucking budnle of joy.

    Read all the comments/reviews in the various postings here and elsewhere about RIP, and I’m hardly in a minority, “fucking” or otherwise. Looking at the new poll on the main page here, and it looks like people are plenty torn over RIP. Some loved it, but far more either hated it or at least were split over it or somewhat disappointed over it.

    So speak for yourself, and your fucking minority of one, but don’t try to speak for everyone.
