Gregory Smith might have The Right Stuff. But does he deserve to wield a power ring?
At any rate, the 25-year-old has certainly positioned himself as a contender. Smith made his bones on the television series Everwood, which was written by Greg Berlanti — who happens to be directing the film. And now, TVGuide has announced that Smith is set to appear near the end of the second (and final) season of Eli Stone… which is executive produced by Marc Guggenheim, one of the Green Lantern co-writers.
Now say it with me: “In brightest day, in blackest night…”
Speculation? Maybe. But he’s certainly in a position to try out. While he does look fairly young, Smith could certainly bulk up before the film’s release in 2010, and according to the age requirements for the U.S. military, you have to be in and out of flight school before the age of 30. (And that’s just for the Air Force.) And as HeraldNet wrote in their (mostly negative) review of Smith’s film Nearing Grace, “the best thing in this movie is Gregory Smith… a better movie will make this kid a star.” Maybe Green Lantern will be it.
Meanwhile, MTV reports an even weirder GL-related occurance: what’s this about a cameo for Clark Kent?

I was wondering what Gregory was up to. I really liked Everwood.
