Andersen on Comic Book Queers

December 1st, 2008
Author Troy Brownfield

Forgive us a bit of nepotism, but we’re going to talk about Brian Andersen for a minute. Brian, a member of Newsarama.com’s Best Shots review team, also writes and draws the fabulous comic, So Super Duper. He’s also the feature interview in the latest podcast from Comic Book Queers. In this episode, Brian talks about his book, his Mormon background, who might be closeted in the mainstream universes, and more.

As for Comic Book Queers, they’ve got 77 podcast episodes on the site. Ranging from reviews to con coverage and more (like Jean vs. Emma!), they add a fresh voice to a lot of familiar debates. Give ‘em a listen, and check out “So Super Duper” if you get a chance.

I haven’t checked out that site in a while, but I’ll have to take a look and see what they’ve had to say about the end of Manhunter. A real shame, a class book…and I wish DC had been a little more open and smart about marketing to the GLBT community.

LOVE me some CBQ! Their podcasts are hilarious. Haven’t checked out the latest yet, though.

I’ve been a fan of So Super Duper since #1…so much so that I even wrote a back-up story for the comic book. Brian does a tremendous job on the comic and I’m glad to see him getting the recognition he richly deserves!
