Comments on: Hulk vs. DVD trailer

A) What would Byrne and Stern have to do with a Marvel animation project and B) I don’t remember either of them doing anything “definitive” on either character. I’m a huge fan of both of these guys and I don’t remember John even doing a single issue of Thor. He took over the Hulk and quit after what?…3 issues. Roger’s pretty much worked on every book on the line but I don’t think he did long stints on either character.

And C) without Byrne you wouldn’t even know who Wolverine was so he’s a bit of impact on Marvel’s movies.

That looked nice but where were John Byrne and Roger Stern in all of this? They both written and drew definitive runs of the Hulk and Thor and neither one of them are to be found in this or any of the other Marvel movie and animation projects. This is an outrage that none of us should stand for.

As a equal parts Hulk & Thor fan I have to say I’m eating this up. to all you naysayers; I think the hulk is under a spell(his eyes). And, that I get the feeling Thor and Hulk are going to have a huge smash fest until Thor knocks some sense into him. I only hope they let Banner eat some meat and drink some mead in the hall of Valhalla.

Who is this Hulik character?

I have to wonder how the Hulk gets there, why he’s so mad, and why he wants to trash the place so much. I do like the was he’s drawn…

While I’ve always been a fan of the long grudge between Thor and the Hulk, I have to agree with Jonathan up there: the excitement of the grudge match fades when you realize that 9 times out of 10, their fights break down to the two trading blows for a little while before the Hulk inevitably starts to pummel Thor into oblivion while Thor just sits there and takes it.

The addition of Asgard in this movie probably just means that the Hulk is going to have some more fodder to plow through, never mind the fact that each and every Asgardian is super-strong and has a few centuries’ experience fighting giants under their belt.

I’ll watch it but, as more a Thor fan than a Hulk fan, I’ll be going in with a fair bit of pessimism.

Anything has to be better than “The Incredible Hulk” which I had the great misfortune of renting the other night. The movie was bad beyond words.

Two of my favorite comic book battles featuring the Hulk were when he took on the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing in Fantastic Four #112 (with gorgeous art by the late, great John Buscema), and when he faced the mighty Thor during the Avengers/Defenders clash in Defenders #10 (penciled by the other talented Buscema brother, Sal).

I wanna see the Grey Hulk personality come into play in future movie projects, animated or live cg action. I think it would make the Hulk a lot more entertaining and a lot more frightening at the same time.

In an Avengers movie, I’d like a Hulk with the power to swap insults with Mighty Thor as well as tussle.

THE HULK and THOR characters in The Ultimate Avengers movie were great! (IMO), not sure about this one tho’, will still give it a try.

Looks like fun. Hulk looks true to form, and the mythological setting totally suits him. The Thor voice doesn’t sound right. Too even and actor-ly (It’s a hard gig for an actor, I’d imagine)

Hope they go a little 300-style for the Thor movie.

What angers me as a Thor fan is that I’m sure Thor will lose when in actuallity he can bust the Hulk up and dispose of him in many ways.

I already know how the movie is going to be. Hulk comes to Asgard via trickery by Loki, Hulk fights Thor and the Warriors 3, unrealistically easily wins, Thor and Hulk become friends to defeat Loki, and then Hulk jumps off rainbow bridge back to earth.

Of course I’d prefer Thor bashing the Hulk for 90 minutes.

While not a fan of Marvel’s previous animated movies, this looks like it could be good. The animation is certainly a step up from previous endeavors. I’m optimistic. Still, I’ll it first, just to be safe.
