So we got a big package from Cartoon Network at work yesterday and waddya think was inside?
Yes, it was indeed the press kit for their newest show, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Enclosed were not only an episode screener and CD of press materials but four snazzy notecards (envelopes included) to send to friends and relatives, no doubt as to ensure that they’re made aware of the show’s arrival as well.
Anyway, I thought I’d take the liberty of posting the card covers here for everyone to enjoy. Hit the link to see the other three.
The show debuts Nov.14 at 7:30 p.m. Tomorrow I’ll try to post some sort of review/impressions of the initial episode.

It’ll be good to see Plas back on the screen, I guess.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:07 am
If you’re not going to use them, I’d be happy to take them off your hands.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:17 am
Very much looking forward to this. Didn’t realize it was starting already. Gotta program that in.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:36 am
This looks absolutly GREAT! Blue Beetle is the first partner. This is so going to rock.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:46 am
I’d bet money there will be a Blue Beetle series in the near future Alah - Ben 10
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:13 am
Blue Beetle. Hispandering, anyone?
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Every time I read an article about this show, I get a little more excited.
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:23 am
I like the whole retro ’50’s Dick Sprang style. I think that’s what I’ve liked about the work that Mike Parobeck, Chris Jones, and Terry Beatty have done on The Batman Adventures and The Batman Strikes comic book.
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:56 am
Batman looks so ANGRY in those shots. It’s like somebody killed his parents or something.
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Blue Beetle. Hispandering, anyone?
Nice. Real classy there.
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Red Tornado. Robopandering, anyone?
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Who’s the creative team? Same people who did Justice League? Unless I just missed it I thought there was going to be a new Superman animated series back in 2006 after Superman Returns came out.
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:58 pm
“Blue Beetle. Hispandering, anyone?”
What are you, dense? Are you f@#$*! retarded? He’s the goddamned Blue Beetle.
October 23rd, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Don’t get the pandering comment…of the four publicity pics Batman is teamed with two white guys, a robot, and a hispanic hero. How is that pandering?
October 23rd, 2008 at 1:21 pm
I want Batman and Green Lantern team ups. Save the Superman, Wonder Woman and Flash for later.
October 23rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
By using Plastic Man and Aquaman they’re clearly pandering to the bearded market and the ex-criminal market. PADNERING ARRGH
October 23rd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Well obviously since they’re not all white men, the only possible reason is to appeal to minority groups. The popularity of the characters, potential story ideas and general entertainingness of the characters don’t enter into it.
This show is going to get my daughter as interested in batman (and, god willing, Blue Beetle) as she currently is on Spider-Man. I almost got tiears in my eyes as she grilled be for information on Spidey’s villains.

Batman has a cape on underwater?
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:34 pm
“Batman has a cape on underwater?”
You’re damn right he does. Bob Haney says so!
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Tom, what you said is exceedingly estupido.
Besides, how do we even know Blue Beetle is Hispanic in this show?
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:40 pm
“Besides, how do we even know Blue Beetle is Hispanic in this show?”
I can’t WAIT to hear the reaction if he’s not.
No pleasing us comics fans, you know…
Some of the voice cast has got me all giddy. R. Lee Ermey as Wildcat, Tom Kenny as Plastic Man, and of course Dietrich Bader (Hoss Delgado himself) as Batman. This show is gonna rock my socks off. It’s gonna make up for The Batman.
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:45 pm
He is hispanic.
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
In the show I mean.
October 23rd, 2008 at 3:01 pm
So pumped for this! Let’s see Black Canary and Huntress soon!
October 23rd, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Dear Tom,
I hope they have Batman team-up with Solomon Grundy soon, so they can pander to your “Brainless Dolt” demographic.
Hugs and Kisses,
A Hispanic Comic Book Fan
PS. If they are “pandering” to anyone, it might be to the teenagers and younger fans who would enjoy seeing a younger hero onscreen with Batman in a show aimed at a younger demographic - but hey, that’s just crazy talk.
October 23rd, 2008 at 3:53 pm
For those of us excited about this show, there’s a preview clip of it up here. Looks like more fun than should be allowed by law.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Aaand the clip is only available to those residing in the States. USpandering, that’s what I calls it!
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Like most respondents I have no problem with an Hispanic superhero getting air time. Lord knows there’s enough heroes of a similar ethnic background to myself, and alas poor El Dorado probably doesn’t speak to the Hispanic community very well. Let the Hispanic viewers enjoy watching a more well-rounded hero of their ethnic background.
And commercially it makes sense that they would use the show to introduce viewers to characters currently appearing in their own titles, thus possibly snagging a few new readers, and that they’d want the hero on the show to be close enough to their comic book counterpart that the potential new reader finds them recognizable. I haven’t been keeping track of BB’s sales, but at least as of January the title’s still in publication.
Along those lines I bet readers of the title, regardless of their ethnic background, probably want to see a close portrayal of the guy they read about.
October 23rd, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Of course having written the above I found a copy of the video on YouTube and the Green Arrow has the 1940s-1960s look, thus undermining my point about characters with active series. Ah well.
October 23rd, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Jomma, they’re going to have the Green Lanterns in an episode. Specifically, Guy Gardner.
I hope to God that ONE PUNCH! makes it into the episode.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:54 pm
“Blue Beetle. Hispandering, anyone?”
Anyone else think that “pandering” is becoming one of those overused sayings? Like “emo”? Like “hack”?
It contributes nothing.
And it rapes my childhood.

hey as a Latin America Guy, i would love to see my language in the correct form, for one time at least, couse..they are very bad at that . besides that why…why finished justice league and bruce timm animation and all we have from dc its this kids stuff and why batman..i dont want a 60 batman again please it took long but long years and several writers to lead batman to what he is now and warner want to go back to that DARK AGE…please why every heroes animation should be for kids?? learn more from the Japanese people..im tired really tired of doing every dc stuff for kidss and using horrifing animation.. any way my opinion its just the one old guy opinion so thats its.. anyone thinks that they should do dc character animation form at least 16 years old people? with drama. and darker side of the batman..dont they learn nothing from the dark knight???
October 24th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
The beauty of Batman is that he can be many things to many people. If you do not like one particular interpretation, ignore it. Easy, no?
October 25th, 2008 at 1:21 am
To say nothing of Aquapandering and Plastipandering.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Are people seriously complaining this is for kids? I for one welcome that there is a kid-friendly Batman again. Sure, I love the dark Batman as much as the next guy, but we already have the Timm and Nolan Batman for that. I got a three-year old godson and it pisses me off that he can’t have a Batman of his own like I did as a child. How the hell is the character supposed to be introduced to the new generation if not for stuff like this? Thank god for this show! Bring it on!
