Yesterday’s DC Comics solicitations for January confirmed the long-circulating rumor that artist J.G. Jones isn’t illustrating the last issue of Final Crisis. He’s been replaced by veteran artist Doug Mahnke.
In an email this afternoon to Comic Book Resources, Jones took responsibility for the need for a replacement.
“Any problems completing the series are my own,” he wrote. “I love Doug Mahnke’s art, and he would have probably been a better choice to draw this series in the first place.”
Jones also apologized to his “three or four remaining fans.”
News of Mahnke’s involvement comes on the heels of Carlos Pacheco’s addition to the art team. Issue 4, which features art by Jones and Pacheco, hits shelves tomorrow.
