Preview: Joker original graphic novel

October 14th, 2008
Author Kevin Melrose

MySpace Comic Books has a sneak peek of the upcoming Joker original graphic novel, by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo.

I’d normally say that we need another Bat-universe book as much as we need a new Wolverine comic, but, hey, it’s Azzarello and Bermejo! I thumbed through the hardcover last night, and it looks really, really good. Dark and violent, naturally, but good.

Joker hits stores on Oct. 29.

More Batman is never a bad thing, Kevin, unless it’s poorly written or just plain bad (IMO, that would cover Grant Morrison’s run on Batman proper right now).

Without even knowing what the plot for this story is, I’m sold just by the picture you’ve included here. I trust Azzarello will come up with a great story too. Anything to feed my Bat-fix that’s not related to “R.I.P” will do nicely.

I’m surprised, based on what I know about this book, that it wasn’t timed more closely to the release of The Dark Knight, or perhaps even used as a story arc in one of the main Bat titles. Something to captalize on people who loved the movie and might’ve been eager to try some comics as a result. Stuff like R.I.P. and Final Crisis sure aren’t going to do it.

It looks great. (I think it was originally supposed to be released earlier).

Thank you so much for the link, I have been wanting to see a preview of this HC ever since I saw the solicit, it looks great !

I have it in my hands already, and I really think Bermejo’s fans won’t be disappointed. As for Azzarello’s story, I have to read it yet.
