Ambrosia Publishing goes on hiatus

October 9th, 2008
Author JK Parkin

The webcomic site Ambrosia Publishing is going on hiatus, according to publisher Wesley Green, due to personal reasons in the publisher’s life.

“I do plan on continuing with Ambrosia Publishing in the future, though, but probably as a self-publishing entity,” Green said.

Ambrosia started serializing comics on the web last year, including Clockwork Creature by Kyle Strahm, Smuggling Spirits by Ben Fisher and Mike Henderson, the previously self-published Roasters by Jason Asala and Before Dawn by Green and Jason Whitley. They then sold a few of their books either as PDF or CBZ files for a price set by the reader. Clockwork Creature and two chapters of Smuggling Spirits were eventually available in print.

“It has nothing at all to do with the creators who were involved at Ambrosia; I wish all of them the best with their projects.” Green said. “I canceled the contracts I had with each creator so they could take their books elsewhere.”

One of the projects Ambrosia was serializing on the web was Dusk by David Doub.

“I know the timing was particularly bad with my book, Dusk, because it’s just finally being finished and would be ready for print in about a month,” Doub said. “Over a 100 pages in all.”

Doub added, “I just wanted to say that it’s been a pleasure working with Ambrosia, and Wesley has been very supportive in my efforts to create my first graphic novel.”

Not to be a complete jackass… but who?

I assume you mean who is Ambrosia Publishing?

Ambrosia is going on hiatus because Mr Green can’t devote the attention the books deserve, so that may explain why you haven’t heard much about the publisher.

Even though with the publishers low profile, all the books with Ambrosia are great and deserve a higher profile in the comic community.
