As the Internet lately has been curiously free of comments like, “It looks like Sin City 2!” and “What happened to the blue suit?” Slashfilm delivers a new batch of images from Frank Miller’s The Spirit.
Those first few photos make me think we’re in for a round of, “It looks like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow … 2!”
The Spirit is set to open on Christmas.

I’d rather complain that somehow, despite the overemphasis on the sexy women, Miller left out P’Gell. He left out the one character who is, above all other women in the original and current Spirit comics, a femme fatale and seductress.

The thing that I find weird in those pictures is the lack of background/set.

The thing *I* find weird is that it all looks like one of those fan made films that you see on the Internet… And not even a good one.
And I’m going to say it anyway: the suit should be blue. I don’t care what Miller says.

Did Frank Miller used to be a genius once?
And, c’mon… we all know THE SPIRIT will be much, much goofier than SKY CAPTAIN (which is no small feat). Hell, my IQ drops just thinking about anything Miller’s touched in the past 12 years.

I was really looking forward to The Spirit panel at Comic-Con. But the footage shown was so underwhelming. I do want to see the finished product when it is released in December, but I’m not as excited for it. From a technical aspect, everything looked interesting. But I came away from the panel with the impression that Frank Miller made the movie for himself and no one else.
