I'm with you on Watchmen being better released per issue, but remember that long wait for issue 12? it was murder!

The idea of decoy solicitations for the post-"R.I.P" storylines is just nutty enough to be plausible, although I remember the Flash solicits from two years ago being all hype and no substance -- "you will want these HUGELY IMPORTANT ISSUES but we won't say why!!!"

And I have no personal knowledge that the Morrison/O'Neil/Gaiman two-parters will actually be collected in one hardcover, but it still makes a lot of sense. Put another way, I don't know why they wouldn't be collected thusly.

((However, Watchmen also had to function as a monthly comic book, relatively complete in each installment while enticing readers to come back.))

Of course, that's no longer the way of the comics world: It's considered acceptable for individual comics to be meaningless on their own as long as they're part of a larger story.

I think Josh could be right. They use these "fake" solicitations to avoid spoiling the finale for "Batman: R.I.P."

Be careful, the truth can be dangerous.

I noticed the solicit for Nightwing #151 says that the cover is by Georges Jeanty when the cover they show is clearly by Ethan Van Sciver (it has even shows his signature on it). There is no mention of a Van Sciver alternate cover for this issue. I only noticed because I'm a huge fan of Van Sciver's art and am looking forward to his alternate cover on Nightwing #150, especially if this is it! It also seems a little fishy that they would follow up a Two-Face story with another Two-Face story. I agree that issue #150 makes for a good stopping point for a hiatus. Perhaps we're seeing a fake solicit (like they did right before they killed off Bart in Flash: The Fastest Man Alive) using the alternate cover from the last issue of Nightwing?

Then again, maybe I'm reading way too into this? :)

Thanks, Skyking, I was about to ask the same question too.

I really hope they'll be collected one day. I'd hate it if they weren't and I'd have to hunt down my entire state for those two copies, ugh.

I'm in favor of regaining the higher issue numbers; it's hard to believe that Legion has been around for so many issues. I personally wouldn't count the Superboy solo issues prior to Superboy and the Legion in the numbering; counting their previous Adventure Comics appearances might be better. I mainly say this because 50 years should equal 600 issues if published monthly consistently, a bit below 700.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'll venture a guess that the FC: Secret Files was developed recently in order to help consolidate the numerous disparities between Final Crisis and Countdown.

"Dennis O’Neil and Guillem March continue the parade of two-part Batman tributes with their look at a besieged Gotham City. Of course, Trinity, Booster Gold, and Nightwing are among the latest to show Gotham without a Bat-presence … but they won’t be collected in a $25.00 hardcover in between stories by Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman, now will they?"

Quick question, do you know for a fact that the O'Neil, Morrison, and Gaiman issues will be collected?
