The preview of Marvel’s December solicitations contains a nice surprise: Incognito #1, the debut of another creator-owned series by the Criminal team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips — one that stirs fond memories of their late, lamented Sleeper:
What if you were an ex-super villain hiding out in Witness Protection… but all you could think about were the days when the rules didn’t apply to you? Could you stand the toil of an average life after years of leaving destruction in your wake? And what if you couldn’t stand it? What would you do then?
INCOGNITO – a twisted mash-up of noir and super-heroics – by best-selling creators Ed Brubaker (The Death of Captain America) and Sean Phillips (Marvel Zombies) with Val Staples on colors.
On his blog, Phillips kindly posts the full wraparound cover for the first issue. Like Criminal, each issue of Incognito will include back matter with articles and behind-the-scenes glimpses.

Doing this will only keep Criminal that much fresher, I love these guys together.
Do Bru and Phillips get any cut of the Sleeper movie…did they have any partial rights to the series?

Not to turn all fanboyish or anything, but the cover and the concept look (and sound) sweet. Count me in.

Oh yeah ! Great news, I love Criminal so much and this will be no different, I agree about the similar topics shared by Sleeper (wich was just an incredible series! )

I will read anything Bru writes.

My only worry is that Brubaker or Phillips might spread themselves too thin creatively. It really doesn’t that likely, though, and since this is an icon book, I’ll guess it won’t be held to a strict release schedule.

In an interview about the movie (maybe here on Newsarama) Brubaker said he and Sean were “nicely taken care of.”
