A few weeks ago I mentioned how the caretakers of the Tintin estate, Moulinsart, had slapped the fan site Objectif Tintin with a cease and desist letter. Now the Forbidden Planet blog is reporting that rather than acquiese, the site has decided to take its ball and go home:
The OT people, fans of the purest kind who love the world of Tintin and spent countless hours to make OT the best and most complete source of Tintin-related information, aren’t taking this lightly.  Rather than be condoned by Moulinsart after complying to their demands (and effectively ceding editorial control), they have decided to pull the plug.  On September 15th, objectiftintin.com goes down.  Most likely they will go underground, using private communication channels rather than spreading the word.  Watch out, Cult Of Tintin, you might be next.
How sad that Moulinsart feels so threated by a site like this that they have to drive it into the ground. Or underground in this case.

“How sad that Moulinsart feels so threated by a site like this that they have to drive it into the ground.”
They didn’t drive it into the ground. They merely asked that the site stop infringing on what they saw as their rights.
If someone taps you on the shoulder and you fall to the floor, it’s not that they drove you down. It’s that you overreacted.

I love TinTin and I will be launching my own site to celebrate the arrival of the Spielberg and Jackson movie. I am a huge fan.
