Reginald Hudlin has left BET Networks after three years as president of entertainment.

Hudlin, who directed such films as House Party and The Great White Hype and served as executive producer of The Boondocks cartoon, helped to relaunch Marvel’s Black Panther title in 2005.

At BET he greenlit the upcoming animated series based on the comic, and serves as an executive producer. The first six episodes are adapted from his “Who Is The Black Panther?” story arc.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, will return to his work as an independent producer.

    MacGruder/Boondocks won?

I always hate to see Hudlin credited as an executive producer of Boondocks. He was involved with the product for about a cup of coffee and then left, but due to some contractual agreement, his name is in the credits.

This isn’t the job I wanted to see him step down from.

I wonder if the Black Panther series will be affected

You mean it might actually be GOOD now?

  5. DB Says:

Who knows. I didn’t like that so called trailer but I want to see what the finished product looks like.

I’m curious as to what will happen though. I’m not Mr TV History but I feel like I’ve heard of shows being shelved due to shifts in network management before.

Black Panther series needs the change!

I don’t know; whatever problems you might have with Hudlin’s Panter as a comic in Marvel U continuity, it could actually work quite well as a standalone (as in not having to rigidly fit into the Marvel U or established Panther continuity) animated adaptation.
