@Vinnie: Thank goodness for Urban Legends Revealed!

About the post-Byrne Superman revisions: there's Birthright, there's the Johns/Donner stuff, and there's whatever else Infinite Crisis has allowed in, right? I figure I'll just handle everything piece-by-piece. I'd like to see someone follow up on Birthright, though....

"– I don’t know whether the Cookie Wars remind me more of the battling Girl Scouts from Airplane! or something out of American Flagg!; but either way, nice work."

There's been endless gags like this across the world of comedy. Duck's Breath Mystery Theater did a sketch called "The Fast-Food Wars", told entirely in flashback as the escalation of competition between the purveyors of rapidly-prepared meals turned the world into a post-dystopian battleground. The narrator is shot by a Chunk Chicken Commando after being caught eating a discarded hamburger.

The fun part is that according to Kurt, this is only the Bonfire Girls' FIRST appearance in Trinity.

"By the way, until the context indicates otherwise, I’m ignoring the recent Hawkman Special"

Dear boy, you are not alone.

"Constitution’s look was altered “at the last minute” following the January 1986 explosion of the shuttle Challenger. There may be a Byrne-board post on this topic, but I haven’t found it."

It was just referenced today on CBR's Comic book urban legend srevealed column.

I think Birthright isn't considered cannon anymore...which, yes I know, is not an old series by any means.

"– The 2003-04 miniseries Superman: Birthright (written by Mark Waid and drawn by Leinil F. Yu) revised many details of Superman’s origin and early years, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t erase the Constitution’s rescue."

As a matter of fact, Birthright makes sure to squeeze it in with a mention during Clark and Lois' first meeting, to show that Clark's first amazing feat in civvies (Man of Steel's Space Plane rescue) doesn't contradict his later first appearance in costume (Birthright's battle with the LexCorp Homeland Security droids).
