One of the things I appreciate about new Superman writer James Robinson is his possessiveness / protectiveness of Jack Knight, the character he co-created and wrote from 1994 to 2001 in Starman.
During DC’s “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” panel earlier today, Robinson was asked by an audience member whether Jack might appear in his Superman run. His answer?
“When you retire a character, you open him up to the potential that he might appear in books that you don’t want him to appear in, or be handled by other writers. Long answer short, no. But I have brought back Krypto.”

Robinson also said he was planning a Shade one-shot or special of some sort. I will do a backflip if this comes to pass.

This may not be the right place to ask the question, but since it just popped into my head I’m gonna ask. Did ANYONE at this panel ask what’s going on with Chris Kent?
While we waited for years (OK, it just seemed like it) for the Johns/Donner storyline in Action to finally wrap up, we’ve seen Chris basically become Lois and Clark’s son. Then comes the belated Johns/Donner finale, after a whole lotta Chris in Superman proper, and there’s Chris doomed to the Phantom Zone? W.T.F???
For all the blunders by DC Editorial of late, this seems like the worst of the bunch. Perhaps I missed it somewhere, as I’ve stopped buying Superman books lately, but is this contradiction ever going to get resolved?

It was mentioned that Chris was only meant to be there for a finite amount of time but that they did have plans for him.

No.
If Krypto’s back, does this mean Busiek’s Krypto story might actually see print someday?

OK, so Clem’s statement makes it sound like there will be some kind of resolution, or at least a fix, to the “Chris Kent problem.” I would certainly hope so! It’s just incredibly shoddy if they don’t. The sort of thing that’s really turning me off to DC lately. I don’t have strong feelings for the character one way or another, but I didn’t mind him at all. It was certainly a better way to give Lois and Clark a “son” then the way Superman Returns did it!
So hopefully Clem’s right, and John’s not. I’d prefer they reconcile the “Chris Conumdrum” before dealing with Krypto. I have nothing against the dog, but I don’t care about him either.

Shaun: To put your mind at ease, my friend, here’s the quote straight from Geoff Johns’ mouth: “What’s happening with Christopher Kent? Johns: “He was always meant to be around for a finite time. We have plans for him.”

I really want to and now can anticipate a resolution to Chris story too!
