If you were planning on attending the con for just a day or two, it looks like your options are even more limited now — Friday is sold out, according to the official San Diego Comic-Con site.
Before we get into the updates folks sent me, a couple of links:
–Writing for Publisher’s Weekly, Laura Hudson does a deep dive into how the size of Comic-Con has affected the overall experience of attending. Laura does a nice job of tying all the big non-comics properties you can find there, like video games and movies, back to comics … First Second’s Prince of Persia graphic novel, Gerard Way writing for Dark Horse, Steve Niles and all his movie opportunities, etc.
– I don’t think I’ve linked to Tom’s Guide to Visiting and Enjoying CCI in San Diego yet, which has a lot of great tips about the show and San Diego in general. I feel like I’ve fulfilled the community service portion of my parole by sending you to it, esp. if you’ve never attended the show.
Now let’s get into the updates. This time around we’ve got’em from DC Comics, BOOM!, Impact Books, Marc Bernardin and many more. And we still have plenty of time before the show for me to do more of these round-ups, so send me your booth schedules, comic debuts and all that good stuff.

Saw you were looking for updates on who was doing what at SDCC. Me and my co writer, Tony Trov, will be heading out for our first time.
We’ll be promoting the Black Cherry Bombshells at the Zuda Comics booth somewhere in the DC pavilion doing signings, sketches and give-aways. Tony and I have these nifty Black Cherry Bombshells’ pins to give out, too.
Hooray free buttons!
We have a Zuda Comics panel on (ugh) Sunday morning - 10:30. If you’re not a morning person they’re podcasting the panel on DC’s site.
Tony and I also like to take pictures with as many people in costume as we can. I think we got most of the notables at Philly and New York and we’re told that San Diego will not disappoint. So if you are wearing a costume please swing by the Zuda Comics booth so we can snap your picture and put it up on our MySpace blog.
*****
Personally, I’ll be signing copies of Pilot Season: Genius #1 in and around the Top Cow booth with my partners in crime, Adam Freeman and Afua Richardson, times yet to be determinated. I’ll also be kicking it once or twice at the AiT/Planetlar booth, signing copies of Monster Attack Network, and soaking in Larry Young’s heady aura of earnest machismo. Speaking of AiT, Adam and I will be on a Young-hosted panel Thursday evening.
I’ll also be representing EW, which is getting involved with SDCC is a big way this year. We’re still cohosting the big splashy Saturday night party with the Sci Fi Channel, but we’ve also got a series of panels called “EW Presents: The Visionaries.” One on comics creators on Thursday, with luminaries like Jim Lee, Grant Morrison, John Cassaday and others; Friday will see two more: one on TV showrunners, including the Lost boys, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, and more; and the last is filmmakers, with Kevin Smith, Zack Snyder, Frank Miller, and Judd Apatow. I’ll be backstage for the first two, holding our moderators’ hair as they puke from nervousness. And I’ll be onstage for the filmmakers, moderating in front of the multitudes in Hall H. My hair doesn’t need holding, as I keep it high-and-tight.
Other than that, taking a few meetings, talking up this Starstruck thingie I‘m doing with Kleid and AWESOME ARTIST YET TO BE REVEALED, saying hello to some old friends, making new ones, and drinking to a point just shy of excess.
*****
I’m actually going to be wiped-out by the time I get to San Diego. I’m driving across country by myself. Taking nine days to do and stopping to talk to creators, fans, and retailers in 17 cities in order to get a grounds-eye view of comics from coast-to-coast. It’s all research for an article I’m putting together. I’ll be putting up daily dispatches from the road somewhere…not sure where, yet.
I imagine by the time I get to San Diego I’m just going to want to sleep. I’ll at least be at the Eisner’s on Friday night. Postcards has been nominated for Best Anthology and I’m going to at least get a free meal out of it.

Man…I get tired just glancing through all this stuff!
I might as well link to my own Surviving San-Diego series from last summer…since you can never get too much advice when you’re walking into the Beast that is the San Diego Con.
