First Post***huzzah***** And werent zombies the new monkeys?
June 25th, 2008 at 10:53 am
I think pirates were the new zombies, but somehow zombies became the new pirates, and now monkeys are once again, on top.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Monkeys are the new Skrulls. Skrulls were the new Zombies.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:06 am
god, here we go again…
June 25th, 2008 at 11:15 am
Too be fair, Julius Schwartz noticed the correlation between monkeys on the cover creating a sales spike decades ago.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:58 am
At least Liefeld can draw apes…
June 25th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
As far as I’ve seen - this concept and artwork are both really disappointing and underwhelming. Yawn and sigh.
June 25th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
I really thought this was a joke. Marvel needs to focus on good solid stories that add to the character and not jumping from gimmick to gimmick. Titles like Daredevil and Captain America have great stories that add to the history of the character with no gimmicks. Even the death of Steve Rogers added to the storyline and seemed to “work” withing the title. As comic book fans we want to share our love of the genre with others but silly stunts like this just make our industry a big joke and discourage newcomers.

“Matt Says:
I think pirates were the new zombies, but somehow zombies became the new pirates, and now monkeys are once again, on top.”
This post makes me happy, the cover less so.

These are hilarious. I mean not hilarious enough to pay for, but still.
June 25th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Personally, I’m waiting for the Poo variants after Marvel releases the Marvel Poo mini, coming soon!
June 25th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Ridonkulous
June 25th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
DC did it first.
Seriously, they had the JLApe crossover a few years back. It was part of the Annuals one summer. At least it sort of made sense in the DC universe because they had an existing society of intelligent gorillas.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Marvel was going to do an ape event in response to the DC one. It’s been an ongoing joke, but now a reality…
June 25th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
I made a t-shirt a few years back to keep track of this: “Monkeys are the new pirates are the new zombies are the new monkeys.”
June 25th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Where the EFF is Arthur Adams?! AND for that matter. Why isn’t he the artists for the mini?
June 25th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Um… JLApe? You’d think Joe Q. wouldn’t just want to walk right into that one since he’s always got half a chub for all that Marvel vs. DC b.s.
Still, everybody knows the truth: Monkeys is funnies.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Excellent! Not a single comic book I am going to read!
Although, I must admit, the Cable one is amusing.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
HEY WHAT THE HECK!!! You guys forgot about ninjas! Ninjas can beat zombies, pirates, and monkeys!!
June 25th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
there is no way I’m going to even come near these books. I guess Daredevil will be a skip week that month.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
It’s just a variant cover. In the case of Daredevil #110, it doesn’t have anything to do with the content inside.
June 25th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Marcel Murdock.
Love it.
June 25th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
This is a spectacularly stupid idea.
June 26th, 2008 at 5:34 am
Is that Daremonkey throwing bananas at us?
Uhm, yeah.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Marvel Apes makes me want to fling poo.
