BKV updates on comics, movie projects

Brian K. Vaughan posted an update on his MySpace blog about your last chance to see him in person this year:

First of all, for you Right Coasters, I’ll be returning to NYC next week to do a signing at Midtown Comics’ GRAND CENTRAL store on June 26. This will be my first signing since the big Y wrap party (which, improbably, you can read all about over at The New York Times), and it will also be my LAST signing of the year, since I’m afraid I won’t be making it to San Diego or any other conventions.

I’ll be signing anything you want, including the tenth and final trade paperback of Y: THE LAST MAN, a series that Stephen King recently called “the best graphic novel I’ve ever read” (I know, I know, Uncle Steve needs to read more comics), as well as copies of EX MACHINA 37 (which plants all the seeds of destruction for our fast-approaching last and best year of the series), and, most excitingly, our very first OVERSIZED HARDCOVER COLLECTION of Ex Machina, which includes a gorgeous new cover from Tony Harris and my never-before-seen original series proposal (for those of you wondering how to trick Jim Lee into publishing your bizarre ideas).

The Lost writer also provided an update on two movie projects, Roundtable and Runaways, and some hints at two new comic projects he’s working on:

In other Hollywood sellout news, DreamWorks recently bought an all-new, supernatural-comedy screenplay of mine that I’ll be (ditto for this title) “executive producing” (more details at The Hollywood Reporter). And you may have heard that I’ll be writing an adaptation of RUNAWAYS, the comic I co-created with Adrian Alphona, for Marvel Studios (similarly scooped by the Reporter). I wish I could say more about these projects, but I’m afraid it’s way too early. Oh, and I CANNOT get you a job, so please don’t send me your headshots. (Unless you want to play Agent 355 in the Y movie, in which case, send a few.)

And no, I promise I’m not leaving comics (sorry!). Along with writing an Ex Machina script every single month, I’ve also been developing a new creator-owned miniseries with one of the best comic artists ever, as well as working nonstop on a huge, really unique original graphic novel, something that I’ll NEVER allow to be adapted as a movie or tv show or anything, for whatever the hell that’s worth. I’ll always think of myself first and foremost as a comics writer (even if it takes me fucking forever to put together new projects), so thanks for your patience and/or indifference.

It all sounds great, but some more LOST news would also be great. Gonna be a long seven months…
