Warner Bros. has hired newcomer Ryan Condal to adapt Ocean, the science-fiction comic by Warren Ellis and Chris Sprouse.
The miniseries, which was released in 2004-2005 by DC’s Wildstorm imprint, is set “one hundred years from now,” when a U.N. weapons inspector discovers thousands of coffins and a weapon of mass destruction beneath the ice of Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons.
Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari and Nick Wechsler optioned the rights to Ocean in August. The two, who are also moving Frank Miller’s Ronin to the big screen, will serve as producers.
Condal, a relative unknown in Hollywood, sold a spec script for Galahad, a revisionist take on King Arthur, back in March.
