Live from Cup o’ Joe at Wizard World Philadelphia comes the news that the Marvel Zombies will return in time for Halloween with a new mini-series by Fred Van Lente and Kev Walker.
I would have thought people were a little zombie’d out by now, but if they’re going do a third series, bringing them into the regular MU for a big zombie war could be a fun way to wrap it up. Too bad Kirkman and Phillips aren’t involved, though.
Update: Wizard chats with Fred Van Lente about the series

Oh come on. Really? Joey Q goes on about keeping Icon and the Ultimate lines small so they can concentrate on quality THEN announces this?! I can understand bleeding the zombie fans dry but please PLEASE keep this out of regular continuity. If they want the Marvel heroes to battle zombies then by all means let them do it. Just don’t convolute Marvel history any more than it already is by adding this crap to it. Unless the zombies are really Skrulls, then it might be okay.

Van Lente you say? I’ve hated EVERY single Marvel Zombies comic and tie-in. A lot. But add Van Lente and suddenly I’m interested…

I’m with Lurker - I haven’t bought a single issue of any of these, but the name Van Lente has me very, very tempted.

Oh, man. I guess I should just echo LW and Dweeze. I normally don’t go anywhere near the Marvel Zombies books but Van Lente could pull me in. Has there been a Zombie MODOK yet?

Kev Walker?
Oh god please, with the lead in time on this title have Kev paint this comic, it would look exquisite. The mans full colour work ala ABC warriors is the sort of stuff that sells prestige format comics with ease.
I love Sean Phillips, but this has the potential to be very exciting indeed.

Kev Walker’s black and white work is utterly astonishing and will certainly be in keeping with previous two series. His painted work is like something from another planet but I can’t see him doing this like ABC, it’s just too expensive and time consuming.
