Almost missed this last night … I need to remember to watch the commercials during Lost, esp. the season finale.
They’ll be in San Diego this year “recruiting” for unpaid positions.
So what did you think of the finale? Let us know in the comments section (SPOILERS, in case anyone hasn’t seen it yet).
Also — Jeremy Bentham was a real person. His dead body is currently on display at University College London; I remember learning about him in a History of England class in college. The professor said that if we remembered anything from the class after it was over, it would be that Bentham had his body preserved and displayed. I want to say that his preserved body has his skull at his feet, but wikipedia doesn’t mention that … just that his head has been stolen so many times that they’ve replaced it with a wax one.
Ah, it is there; a picture of it can be found here. What does this have to do with Lost? You tell me …

I thought it was pretty good, not a shocker ending like I expected, but I did have to wonder how the writers were going to leave everything, considering that if the ship blew up, they’d lose a ton of characters.
I think that Penny and Desmond are the “Adam” and “Eve” dessicated corpses and that Charlotte is potentially their daughter.

Also, Good Morning America showed the 2 alternate endings this morning, each of which was simply a different coffin reveal. The two other filmed coffin occupants were Sawyer and Desmond.

Nope, it wasn’t as mind-blowing as last year’s finale… But it didn’t need to be. Truly moving the island, and the (somewhat) surprising ending of finidng Locke in the coffin were more than enough to make this a great finale.
The expected high body count was there too, though I’m not at all certain that Jin’s dead. He could’ve been far enough away from the explosion, or he might’ve jumped off the boat in time. He’s done it before.
I think saying that Des and Penny are “Adam & Eve” is a good guess. Ms. Hawking did tell Des that he doesn’t live “happily ever after,” or words to that effect. There’s a lot more to come there. What a long, frustrating wait for season 5 this is gonna be!

Gotta go try the Octagon site out now… I assume this is the summer’s game to keep us occupied, or at least a prelude to it? Find 815 wasn’t all that great, but maybe this will be better.

When you click on the link to Jeremy Bentham’s wiki entry, take a look at who he was “Influenced By” over on the right hand side…. I found that VERY interesting…

Whaddyamean, “what does this have to do with Lost”?! The most important aspect of Bentham is that *his body is contracutally required to be placed in all board meetings*! This is exactly what is required of Locke’s body, in that he must be carried with the others back to the island. As well, his philosophical standpoints on individualism and opposition to the concept of “natural rights” is a fitting analogue to Locke’s (historically and “lost-ally”) personage. Probably the cleverest thing the writers have done throughout the series, IMHO…
