–Michael O’Hearn, who plays “Titan” on NBC’s American Gladiators, told Dr. Drew that he was reading for the part of Captain America next week. He also mentioned it to reporter Kate O’Hare with Zap2It:
I also got a call for ‘Captain America.’ At this stage, I just want to be a part of it. Before this, I did the bodybuilding, the fitness covers, the romance-novel covers, and that was great. I’ve done some shows and TV, it’s all great, but this is such a different league.
To hear what other projects he’s reading for, check out the May 22 Dr. Drew show … he mentions Cap and some other projects around the one hour, six minutes mark. (Thanks Jason).
–MTV.com has a clip from the upcoming Incredible Hulk film, featuring the Hulk versus a helicopter, with Betty Ross stuck in the middle.
–Variety reports that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opened to a strong-but-not-record-breaking $25 million yesterday. The film scored the fourth best Thursday opening ever, after Revenge of the Sith, The Matrix Reloaded and Attack of the Clones.

I think the more successful comic book adaptations have proved that it’s better to get a real actor and hire them a personal trainer, than get a bodybuilder and hire them an acting coach.

It’s probably more for body double work or something than him actually playing the role.

Oh PLEEEEEEASE let Titan be Cap, I love it.

Yeah he’d be a good stunt double.

Michael O’Hearn, huh?
Interesting choice.

I don’t know that I agree with this really. I thought, for example, Arnold Schwarzenegger made an infinitely better Conan than Halle Berry did Catwoman. In fact, while the best comic book movies that I can think of all tended to star real actors, so did all of the worst.
I’d be willing to give the guy a chance.

An actual actor is not a guarantee of a good comic book movie — lots of bad movies are made every year with skilled actors — but it is a necessary requirement for one.
If they are casting wrestlers for the role, depend on it, it’s going to be a terrible piece of crap.

Unless the guy can actually act. The Rock does a pretty good job, I’ve like a lot of his work.
Michael O’Hearn hasn’t got the part yet, he’s going to an audition. Perhaps he will do very well. I wish him luck.

Hopefully he does more than well. And then maybe they can get Andy Milonakis to play Bucky too.
PERFECTLY. CAST. MOVIE.
Make mine Marvel!

He certainly looks the part. My concern would be whether you could buy him leading a group of actors (in the Avengers movie) containing heavy hitters like Robert Downey, Jr. and Edward Norton.

Who cares if he’s not that great an actor, it all comes down to the director. Get a director who will work with this guy for long hours of getting into character and we’re set. Hitchcock and Kubrick would literally hundreds of takes if they felt the performance wasn’t strong, they viewed actors like anyother prop on a set.
