I give everyone involved a lot of credit for just being up front and honest about this. I know late books seem to really bug people and it does hurt sales so it's nice when any company, large or small, acknowledges a problem and moves to address it.

On a related note, I think one of the fun things to watch in comics in the next decade is which of these growing small companies manage their growth and become the next generation of stable, mid-size publishers. ASP, IDW, Boom, Ape, etc. all seem to have learned from various mistakes other publishers have made and have all adapted various models to work around the problems in the market.

An official-ish creator support statement was both sent out to various media outlets and posted at my blog: http://captionbox.net/loosepages/?p=408

A number of additional creators have lended their names to this statement since that draft went live, including Robert Randle (Revere), Jason Becker and John Rea (Killing Pickman), Chandra Free (The God Machine), Rob Vollmar (Inanna’s Tears), Nick Taplansky (Awakening), Roel Wielinga (Primordia), and the team behind The Engineer.
