Technical difficulties at the end of last week means we’re left with a pileup of television- and movie-related items, so let’s just dive in.
• My list of Top ’80s Movies Ripe for Remake probably wouldn’t include Red Dawn – “Wolverines!” — or RoboCop. But then again, I don’t work for MGM. [The Hollywood Reporter]
• Despite Jon Favreau’s publicly expressed eagerness to direct another Iron Man movie, and Marvel’s announcement of a release date for the sequel, no one’s actually offered Favreau the job. Uh, Marvel? Have your people call his people. [Slashfilm]
• Rumor mill: James Vanderbilt (Scorpion) supposedly has turned in a working draft for a Maguire-less Spider-Man 4, written so that it could be filmed simultaneously with a fifth installment. [Cinematical]
• It’s that time of the year again: when Tyrese Gibson talks about starring in John Singleton’s Luke Cage adaptation. [Sci Fi Wire]
• Go behind the scenes of Wanted with this video featurette. [Empire Online]
• Speaking of Wanted, Universal has launched a viral-marketing site called FraternityofWeavers.com. Enter the secret code “every life hangs by a thread” — one word per line — to open The Fraternity Bible and learn about the shadowy organization. [ComingSoon.net]
• If you watched television over the weekend, you may have noticed Universal started its big push for The Incredible Hulk, with three new commercials put into heavy rotation. Missed them? They’re available online, naturally.
• And speaking of TV commercials, NBC has released a new promo for Heroes. [ComingSoon.net]

I think that new Wil Smith movie is the Luke Cage movie. Sorry Singleton. That bird has flown and neither you nor Marvel are getting paid.

You really think so ? I don’t really see a comparison.
I’d like a good Luke Cage adaptation someday, can’t say that I’m too eager to see Hancock. For as many years as tyrese has been rumored to be up for the role, I’ve been against that casting choice. At this point I just wouldn’t mind seeing the movie made. Tyrese may be a lot smaller than the man mountain Cage is in the comics but now I don’t see why that should be a big problem. Maybe the movie will get a 2015 release.
Red Dawn is such a product of its time that I don’t why they’d remake it. Heck, it can’t even technically be Red Dawn anymore, so many years after the Cold War has ended. It would be like remaking Saturday Night fever and pretending disco is the hottest trend in the nation.

Marvel Studios: Honestly. What you waiting for by not handing Favreau the keys to the limo again? Cripes!
Spidey 4. And 5. After the mess that was Spidey 3 I can’t say I’m terribly interested. I never minded Maguire at all, I just hated the crappy script he (and everyone involved) had to work with. If they want to re-cast, say with Jake Gyllenhal (sp?), is there really any point in calling it 4 and 5? Why not just reboot at some point? I was just sorry Spidey 3 wasn’t about The Lizard instead of Venom and Sandman.
The Incredible Hulk. I’m still holding out high hopes for this one. Then again, my expectations aren’t that high, but I think people might be pleasantly surprised.
Heroes. Does anyone still care? The show was a great idea, but it was poorly executed pretty much from the start.

That “Fraternity Bible” read like a terrible videogame manual.
I think my favorite part was when they directly contradicted themselves by saying “We must not have any distinguishing physical characteristics,” then a few pages later explain that upon joining you get an incredibly elaborate hand tattoo. How inconspicuous.
