It looks like Scott Pilgrim has found his Ramona Flowers.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in negotiations to star opposite Michael Cera in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the popular Oni Press series by Bryan Lee O’Malley.
In the graphic novels, Scott must defeat Ramona’s seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this role could elevate Winstead to leading-lady status. She previously appeared in Live Free or Die Hard, Death Proof and Sky High.

I’m Dan Coyle, and I approve this casting.

“Seven evil ex-boyfriends”… *shakes head disapprovingly*
(Just for the record, the idea of seven exes doesn’t bother me, it’s the specific wording here that gets me.)

I … don’t understand.

As if I wasn’t already excited enough about the idea of an Edgar Wright helmed Scott Pilgrim movie.
I don’t know if I could have a bigger crush on her.
I’m still not sold on Michael Cera, but even if he’s awful, I’d be happy if she plays Ramona.

Kubiak. That’s…pretty much the entire premise of the book. Ramona has seven ex-boyfriends. They’re all evil. Scott has to fight them. It’s like a bad video game…and that’s the joke.

DK: If you’ve read the latest one (”Scott Pilgrim Gets it Together”, or, as I like to call it, “#4″)you’ll understand my particular issue with the wording here. (I don’t want to spoil anything.)

I’m super-excited about this movie, btw. They’ve got the perfect director for it, and I love Cera as Pilgrim. I’m not all that familiar with Mary Elizabeth Winstead but it seems like good casting too.
