DC’s Final Crisis sketchbook isn’t something I’d typically buy, but it was interesting to see the above page, posted on Managblog, which features “Most Excellent Superbat.” He’s a member of “Super Young Team” … which, of course, is from the mind of Grant Morrison, which also gave us The Great Ten’s Accomplished Perfect Physician, August General in Iron, and Mother of Champions. Give him enough time and every country in the DCU will have gobs of super heroes.

Those Japanese super heroes are incredibly dumb.
They’d offend me if I got offended. That last half of the sketchbook was painfully retarded. Morrison needs to learn when to stop with the cute ideas.

I like how the cape actually looks like wings.

“That last half of the sketchbook was painfully retarded.”
…Good thing you don’t get offended, huh.

If I was one to be offended I might be offended by the vaguely racist nature of the characters.
The Japanese, apparently, are pop culture obsessed and extremely unoriginal and even their unoriginal superheroes name themselves in Engrish (poorly translated Japanese-to-English).
It’s y’know, almost offensive. If you think about those kinds of things. Or if you ascribe darker motives to just being a drug addled loony.
Instead, y’know, it’s just retarded. Dumb. Moronic. Self indulgent.
But watch, there will be a backlash about these characters as ‘racist’.
It’ll be the Women In Refrigerators of the summer of 08!

So basically still whinefest, I see.

I love this costume. It’s garish as hell, but there’s so much thought behind it.

Well… yeah.
The Japanese are a lot of other things too, but a certain segment of them does fit that description. They actually did make a game called “Jet Grind Radio Future” that fits that mold pretty well. That doesn’t mean that *everything* they do is like that, but there’s nothing racist about saying that some of the things they do are like that.

I think they’re absolutely brilliant concepts. I LOVE the thought that went into MESB’s design. The negative Supe’s shapes especially.
Best $3 I spent last week.
