A trailer for the second X-Files film, due in theaters July 25, has hit the Web:
I think this is the same one that was shown at Wonder Con this year, or at least uses a lot of the same footage … the difference being there aren’t thousands of fans screaming over it when Mulder hits the screen.

I’m pretty sure I’m the only person on earth who would have preferred if the X-Files had stuck to the Monster Of The Week format. That was fun.
The whole conspiracy mythology lost me, I stopped watching when it began to overwhelm the weekly creepiness. Nevermind that it tended to seem a bit disjointed and I could swear that the switched the age of Mulder’s sister from being in her teens to about ten years younger once that plot thread became important. I distinctly remember his sister being the one watching him. Then suddenly the roles were reversed.
Give me monsters and strange happenings. That’s enough.
This…I’m not so sure about.

El Coyote, you are not alone… I too gave up on the show long before it ended (and based on their ratings the last few seasons they were on, lots of others did too). The mythology was kind of fun in the early series, as it was ramping up. But there were also the brilliant, often very funny stand-alones. Stuff like the circus freaks episode, the cockroach episode, “Clyde Bruckman” and “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space.”
Somewhere, the show stopped doing that stuff and it pretty much become nothing but the mythology. A convoluted mythology that eventually made little or no sense, and they just dragged it out way too long. I don’t even know what finally became of Mulder’s sister. Was she dead, but cloned before her demise? No clue.
Anyhow, I’m sure my wife and I (big X-fans in the day, at least for awhile) will go see the movie. I can’t say I’m excited about it though. This trailer tells me nothing, except that Gillian Anderson is hotter than ever! Something tells me I’ll have seen The Dark Knight two or three times before I get around to seeing The X-Files.
