“Fringe Benefits” has a double meaning this week. As usual, it means that we’re talking about cool comics you can find on the fringe of the mainstream. But today it also means that one of the side benefits to having this column is that I can occasionally talk about my own stuff.
For instance, If you’ll look in this month’s Previews, the one with this cover:
And if you’ll turn to page 326:
You might see a blurb like this:
That means that your local comics shops are now taking pre-orders for Jesse James vs. Machine Gun Kelly, a book I co-wrote with Alex Ness.
Now, what that blurb doesn’t tell you is that not only are Jesse James and Machine Gun Kelly going to shoot it out – Jesse with his six-shooters; Machine Gun with his Tommy – they’re going to shoot it out in a ghost town. With real ghosts.
So, if you want to see these two legendary gunmen go after each other in a burning Western town with spirits of the dead flying around, I hope you’ll be so kind as to fill out this form and give it to a comics retailer to help them decide how many they need to order.
And what’s more, if you take a picture of yourself handing the coupon to the retailer and email the photo to me by May 11th, I’ll enter you in a drawing to win one of these on DVD:
Cool? Cool.

I don’t show up on photographs.
And my LCS is already ordering it for me. And a couple copies for the shelf. Alex told me about this a few weeks ago, so I knew to remind my LCS comics manager.
