In honor of Free Comic Book Day, Topless Robot’s Brian Heiler counts down “The Five Best and Worst Comics Blatantly Designed to Sell Toys.” It’s a solid list, even if it does omit Marvel’s Shogun Warriors.

But I wonder how Secret Wars was overlooked? Maybe it wasn’t blatant enough.

    In one story, two ninjas argue as to who is to shoot Norris, one remarks “Are you kidding? That’s Chuck Norris, one bullet won’t stop him and we won’t have time to shoot two!”

    Wasn’t “Team America” (about a bunch of mutant motorcyclists) supposed to have been a toy-tie-in as well?

    Rom. Team America. Shogun Warriors. Micronauts. Crystar. GI Joe. Transformers. I loved this books as a kid.
