Introducing … Anti-Venom?

Anti-Venom, from "The Amazing Spider-Man" #568

EW.com has the first look at Anti-Venom, who may be a brand-new character, or simply a retooled Venom. Honestly, I can’t tell for sure from EW’s description. Anti-Venom will debut in August’s The Amazing Spider-Man #568, by Dan Slott and John Romita Jr.

The website also has a promotional collage for the next big storyline,”New Ways to Die,” which features images of Mary Jane Watson, Venom, Anti-Venom and the grave of Kraven the Hunter.

    Written by Slott?

    With a reverse Venom?

Somehow Mr. Negative gets the suit on him.
    Seems pretty reasonable.

  2. ejulp Says:

    Or effects Venom somehow.

  3. J. Andres Says:

If thats MAry Jane, heck! Ill be glad to forget about her, couse in that image she doesnt look very pretty…

Now, about Kraven, i can only guess he’s back with some help ofthe symbiote… man… i guess next storyline, they’ll bring back Uncle Ben, this time permanently to re-tell the story about “great gifts come with great responsability”…. AGAIN!!!

  4. Paul Says:

    Say, don’t they already have an Anti-Venom? I think his name’s Spider-Man.

  5. AE Says:

As someone who stopped reading Spiderman back in the 90’s, this looks stupid.
I’m sorry. There’s just no other way to say it.
It looks like they were running out of ideas.
I thought anti-Spawn was stupid too, but at least it made a kind of sense.
This looks like “we’ve done venom, carnage, a ton of symbiotes, and now we’re running out of new ways to tell virtually the same story”.

But like I said, I stopped reading Spidey almost a decade ago, nice to see I haven’t missed much.

    AE.

Agree that EW’s description is hard to figure out. They describe it as a new look, then as a counterpart to Venom. Either way, I tend to agree with AE above. Really just tired of symbiote stories in general.

    J. Andres, the current Kraven is the son of the original. He was in Punisher War Journal for an arc recently.

  7. Martin Says:

Yup, I’m also sick of Venom and all his derivatives.

Can’t they bring back Golden Oldie instead?

  8. Carnacki Says:

Wow, a symbiote! What a novel idea!

  9. Kirk Boxleitner, a.k.a. K-Box Says:

I now have an awesome idea for a new Superman villain!

He could be the exact opposite of Bizarro-Superman!

    What do you think?

  10. david brothers Says:

You mean like Zibarro from All-Star Superman?

  11. El Bastardo Magnifico Says:

    Has everyone forgotten about Bizzarnage?

  12. Lawrence Says:

Reminds me of Bizarnage from Amalgam Comics.

    Those were some fun comics.

  13. Vichus Smith Says:

Anti-venom? That’s um, that sounds pretty much like a dumb name to me, but I’ll buy it. The promo poster on EW is killer, though. Damn, I’d buy the new ASm stuff if Joe Quesada wasn’t such a douche. Hell, I’ll probably buy it in trades anyway.

  14. Nav Says:

they should have made him at least a bit more musculer and make him look a bit better it would be nice if Toxin showed up more in the Marvel Comics.
