Speaking with Entertainment Weekly at New York Comic Con, Frank Miller points out the differences between The Spirit and Sin City:
It’s in color, for one thing. But also it’s a very different movie. Sin City was really a combination of me and [co-director] Robert Rodriguez working off my own drawings. And this was based on comics from the 1940s — Will Eisner’s — but through a much more modern lens. Besides, you’ll never see a tie this color [motions to his half-red, half-blue Spirit tie].
So, that should clear up everything.
Miller also tells the magazine he’s written Sin City 2, which he plans as part of a movie trilogy.

Sin City was fun and all but I still sort of kind of wish it was never made because it means we lost the potential A Princess of Mars Rodriguez movie which would have been worth a thousand Sin Cities.

Is the colour he’s talking about those desaturated hues in the Spirit’s face? Because everything I’ve seen of the Spirit so far has him in an all black suit.

I think he means actual color. Sin City had spot color (like the yellow bastard), so just a little color wouldn’t be a difference between the two movies.

Even Miller’s full-color comics are exercises in wannabe tough-guy camp excess. How is this supposed to make me feel better about his desire to film what HE perceives to be the essence of the Spirit instead of what Eisner actually did?

He always looks like he’s trying so very hard to look cool, lol…but comes across as kinda geeky.

Millar always does the same thing. He’s a less talented version of George Lucas!

Frank miller is an entertainment genius. I do feel though that he needs to change the color in spirit, because if he doesn’t, it will look like a rip off of his own work.
