Val over at Occasional Superheroine snapped a picture of a new promo poster of the women of the DC universe, which can also be found on Adam Hughes’ website. Johanna has commentary.

Where’s Donna Troy? Where’s Manhunter? If that’s Batwoman seated.
Where’s Lois Lane? She may not have powers but she’s more integral to the DCU than Batwoman.

am i correct that its Catwoman, Oracle, Zatanna, Black Canary, Power Girl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batwoman, Vixen, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn?

It is obvious Adam Hughes hates Donna Troy, Manhunter and Lois Lane.

No Huntress?

The one sitting down… maybe those rings on her fingers are a clue. Could be Huntress, Lois, or Batwoman? This is a very cool poster.

I’m not saying it isn’t a great image, Hughes rarely turns in a dud, just wondering why those characters, who are more prominent in the DCU than Batwoman, were not used. They just seem like odd omissions.
And Poison Ivy, who has rarely been on the side of angels hanging out with all those other characters seems odd as well. Harley Quinn was vaguely heroic in her solo series and Catwoman has at times flirted with full fledged heroics, but Ivy’s a violent - often murderous - lunatic.
There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to some of the choices.
That and I would’ve really liked to see Hughes’s Donna Troy and Lois Lane.

Adding Lois and Donna Troy or Huntress would unballance the composition with too many brunettes.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
I’d thought the seated brunette might be Mary Marvel.

Nice piece.
Why would Lois be in the picture if she’s married?
And um, how old is Supergirl?

I thought the woman sitting was Rose. The rings representing her dual personalities… or am I reading too much into it.

Wish “Doom Patrol” was still being published, because I’d love to see his take on Rita Farr…though I don’t know what he’d have her wear (or how much larger than the other women she’d be drawn).
