New Spider-Man game on the way: Web of Shadows

Thursday April 17, 2008, 1:09 pm

Gamervision reports that Activision’s working on a new Spider-Man game called Web of Shadows:

Fans of Activision’s Spider-man video games will soon have something else to be happy about. Activision has just announced the next game based on everyone’s favorite comic web-slinger, which will be called Spider-man: Web of Shadows. This shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise, given that Activision hinted at a new Spider-man game earlier this year, but this is the first information we have received about it.

The timing makes sense, what with Activision recruiting possible voices for a new Spider-Man game at the New York Comic Con this weekend.

Update: Lots more on the game here.

  1. Spider-Man by Michael Golden - AFTER McFarlane.

  2. Great piece, but obvious lift of the McFarlane piece. As far as the game goes, looking forward to it, as long as the scope of it is as big as the movie games.

  3. I think Golden must have thought that stealing the pose was only fair game since McFarlane stole his entire Spidey design from Golden.

  5. Not to forget that commercial art is not quite the same as comic art. You pretty much do what the client wants of you. Going off of a previous artist’s riff is not uncommon, particularly with an iconic image like this.

  6. I love Michael Golden.

And I’m REALLY psyched about this game.

  7. this game looks excellent. i work at Gamestop, and i saw it in our new ad the other day.

apparently, stores will carry 1 of 3 promo items to give away with preorders - a Spidey toy, a poster painted by Gabrielle Dell’Otto, or a T-shirt.

I think the t-shirt’s image was by Deodato, but I forget. just figured i’d share that info :)

  8. Well I lovedd the three Spidey movie games (Though my PS2 one was soooo diluted when compared to the PS3 version) and the Ultimate Spidey one. I just hope they (Activision) don’t do another Spidey: Friend Or Foe style game. Played a demo on my PC and it stunk up the place. And I’ll by just about any comic related video game.

As to the Golden/McFarlane art: Hey it’s all good. Love both of their art and a little mash-up of the two is cool.
