Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

Remember that Spider-Man game I blogged about earlier today? Yahoo Games reveals more details about it on their fancy Spider-Man:Web of Shadows page, including the storyline, guest appearances (like Luke Cage!) and the game engine, which provides the same kind of free-roaming environment fans came to love in the movie games:

Sorry, Tobey - Spider-Man: Web of Shadows isn’t based on the film franchise, it’s based on the web-slinging comic book legend himself, giving the developers at Shaba and Treyarch a great deal of leeway in crafting an entirely new plot. In a nutshell, New York has been invaded by something very bad, resulting in a cataclysmic event that has rocked city leaders to the point of declaring martial law. Other heroes are gathering uptown to protect civilians, while villains are grouping downtown to repel the aggressors. And Spidey? He has to sort it all out, of course.

They’ve also got a trailer up (embedded after the jump), as well as a subsite that will allow fans to vote on what’s revealed about the game as it is marketed. Interesting.

    Damn, that looks kick ass.

    Spider-Man vs. Symbiote Cthulhu!

Well that shows a whole lotta nuthin’! The problem with Super-hero video games is they have amazing trailers, great cut scenes, decent characters and then skimp on the game play because they know comic/movie geeks will buy the game anyway.

Quite interesting, along with Ultimate Alliance 2, future looks awesome for Marvel gamers. Peace.

Ultimate Alliance was a mess. I’d prefer a single character with that cast, give me the chance to focus on one character, juggling four tiny characters on the screen was no fun.

Imagine the ability to play through that game with a different character 20 some times, each character having different skills and opening sub-sections of their own. Couldn’t be that much harder to make. And it’d be more playable. Save multi character games for multi player games.

That and Marvel really needs to patch things up with Capcom and get me a Marvel Capcom collection, dammit.

I remember when Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes came out at the arcade, so awesome, I mean, they had Shuma Gorath, how weird is that?

I’d buy a PS3 or XBox 360 if I had to, I’d like ‘em on my Wii, though.
