Faith Erin Hicks, whose fun horror/comedy romp Zombies Calling was published by SLG last year, talks about her new comic strip in the Nova Scotia Chronicle Herald:
The Halifax Chronicle-Herald has asked me to do a Sunday comic strip for them, which started today. Originally they wanted something for the year, but due to the fact that I’m slightly swamped, I asked if they’d be willing to let me do it for 12 weeks instead (I hope I don’t end up regretting that … I hate turning down work). And I could do it about anything, which was pretty cool, so I did what Bill Watterson recommended in a forward for one of his C&H collections that I read about 15 years ago: that a comic strip about a little girl, written and drawn by a woman, would be a good idea.
The strip, Jenny’s Brothers, is about a girl who wants to hang out with her older brothers, so she tries to impress them by finding the Abominable Snowman. It’s “just in the Sunday paper for the moment,” she says, but hopefully it’ll find its way to their website soon. The paper also did a feature article on her to launch the strip.
