EW.com has the first peek at the Rorschach and Nite Owl action figures from DC Direct’s collector-edition Watchmen line. The figures, based on the designs for the Zack Snyder movie, are set to debut Friday at New York Comic-Con.
The line should hit stores in January, and retail for about $14.99.

I think Rohrshach looks awesome!

They look good, except Nite-Owl is supposed to be fat, which I’m sure people are going to respond that this therefore means the movie will suck. But I will say right now before people jump on this: This may be the YOUNG NITE-OWL. So I shall say quit your complaining in advance to the haters and wait for the movie to come out first.

Look more like statues than action figures. BUBUBU THE ARMS MOVE A LITTLE!!
DC Direct really needs to work on the action part of their stuff as well as adding accessories (and open hands to hold them…), it’s getting to be about as bad as the McFarlane toys.
That said, Rorschach does look pretty bad-ass.

Those look SUH-WEET! So what if Nite-Owl’s not fat? I’m sure it’s a younger version of him. I can’t imagine there’s much demand for fat superhero action figures, actually.

Watchmen action figures… somewhere Alan Moore is rolling over in his grave. Oh, not dead?

You know, I’ve been thinking about the costumes, particularly how Nite-Owl looks more like the Burton or Schumacher Batman costumes.
If the movie is meant to deconstruct the superhero MOVIE, much like Watchmen deconstructed the superhero comic, then it would make sense that it’d be hard armor, not spandex.
Still, I don’t have high hopes for the movie, regardless of how cool Rorschach looks.

So this is how they get around to doing Watchmen figures, do the movie figures and NOT the comic book version
April 16th, 2008 at 11:49 am
I wish they were two-packs, you know the comic version packed with the movie version.
At any rate, I’ll get them, and hopefully one day, the comic versions as well.

I wish they looked more like the toys in the comic. They were articulated. And, to be fair, the Nite-Owl toy in the comic wasn’t fat, either, I don’t believe. Does Rorschach come with a gas-powered grappling gun?

I’d like to see a fake toy commercial, pitching these on the movie’s DVD.

I cant look at these and not think of the memo in the book from VEIDT toys suggesting the inclusion of Nite-Owl and Rorschach into the Ozmandias action figure line.

I have waited since 1986 for these. I wish they used the comic book designs. I only hope they will make a Watchmen video game with unlockable classic design versions!

There should be a giant Alan Moore action figure that looks down on these with its arms crossed. Action Feature? When you squeeze its legs or pull a string, it will shake its head in disgust and disappointment.
They actually don’t look too bad. They’re great for older fans and collectors, but keep Watchmen out of Toys R Us.

godzthor1, there was a set of DC Direct Watchmen figures based on the comic book designs announced back in 2000 as part of the Watchmen 15th anniversary product line, but issues between DC and Moore caused them to never be produced:

The Rorschach looks fantastic but I’m not too sure if Im like the Nite-Owl piece.
Any pictures of the other pieces??

The Owl’s costumer looks great for this movie. I hade my concerns, but after seeing the design for the movie…I’m quite pleased.

I think the Nite Owl’s costume looks better than the new techno commando thing Batman is sporting in his next film.

Two thumbs up!

“I think the Nite Owl’s costume looks better than the new techno commando thing Batman is sporting in his next film.”
ANYTHING loks better than the recent Batman movie suits.
As for the action figures…given that the final product might be different, I’ll take a wait and see approach. But so far it looks all right.

“Action” figure?
Really?
Joe- Night owl wasn’t fat, as such, but he was over-weight. He had a bit of a belly.
