DreamWorks has acquired the film rights to Atlantis Rising, the science-fiction war series from Platinum Studios.
In the five-issue miniseries, which debuted in October, the legendary undersea kingdom of Atlantis is pushed to war with the surface world because of pollution. Written by Scott O. Brown and drawn by Tim Irwin and Andy Elder, the final issue is due in stores later this month.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) are producing the live-action adaptation through their DreamWorks-based company, along with Platinum chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
Just yesterday, DreamWorks announced it had acquired the rights to the popular sci-fi manga series Ghost in the Shell.
