The Byrne Board wonders, just how greedy was Bob Kane?:
“I remember that Bob Kane said in some interview that he created Dr. Death, The Monk, the Batman, and the Batarange. Everyone knows that Gardner Fox created Dr. Death, The Monk, the Batplane, and the Batarange. Why would Bob Kane take credit for things that were really Gardner Fox’s ideas.”
Byrne himself weighs in:
“Having taken credit for everything Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson did, Kane was on a roll!”
Harsh but fair, really. Further in the thread, and needing to be seen to be believed: Kane swipes Todd McFarlane and Kane’s gravestone, which credits Batman’s creation to God.

I loved those issues where Batman defeated the criminal Master Chef using the Batarange.

It was Finger who came up with the entire background of Bruce Wayne and the Batman origin. His heirs deserve a piece.

Bill Finger sadly has no heirs, as far as anyone knows.
Also, I don’t think Gardner Fox created all that stuff. I’m pretyy sure Bill Finger did. Those were all introduced in the very early issues of Detective Comics, pre-Robin, which were all writter by Finger. So credit where credit is due, that’s Finger, not Fox.

John Byrne is one to talk – he has spent his whole life raping everything Kirby created.
Byrne is just jealous because Kane was a smart businessman and still gets credit and accolades while Byrne has been reduced to d-list books and doodling commissions for the losers on his board.

It is good business to pilfer someone else’s ideas and take credit for them, allowing the real creator to end up in poverty?
‘Common Practice’ doesn’t equal ‘Good Business.’

I agree Michael – Byrne has pilfered ideas from wayy too many people to be casting aspersions on Bob Kane.
Toothless old Byrne again shows his dwindling fan base what a hypocrite he is.
