Alex Zalben with Pulp Secret got his hands on a “very early draft” of the script to the Scott Pilgrim movie and shares several details. I won’t mention any of the spoilers here, but he does seem to like what he sees:
I laughed out loud a whole lot at this script, both the dialogue, action, and even the stage directions. I would say from reading this that, with revision, Bacall has a chance to make something completely unique and unclassifiable here. Reading it as a script, you have to wonder how Universal is going to market the movie. Is it an indie rock flick? Is it a romantic comedy? Is it a ninja action spectacular? For those who embrace the movie, this won’t be a problem… “It just is, man.”

Then there’s the IESB script review from last year that the production company had pulled offline within hours of posting. Let’s see some excerpts:
“Reading this hyperactive script, I knew I’m just too old for this shit. I didn’t get this movie from the very slacker beginning to the oh-god-just-kill-me-now end… The characters have an emotional complexity rarely seen outside of Taco Bell commercials, the plot is stupid beyond belief, and I swear I’m now cross-eyed from rolling my eyes over and over again during this 45 minute (thank goodness) quick read!”
“Zaphod Beeblebrox once remarked, “I’m so hip I have trouble seeing past my pelvis.” I’m certainly not that hip. And neither is this movie-to-maybe-be. The characters in Scott Pilgrim’s Little Life proudly posit the best bands are the bands that no one has ever heard. Does it follow then that the best films are the ones that no one has ever seen? Then expect this film to hit MONDO MEGA box office numbers and to win awards like The Academy Award for Best Picture Ever!”
Funny that got taken offline while this one gets to stay up…
