Ever with an eye to protecting copyright, Marvel employees anonymously list their top 10 series due for a comeback:
This time around, the Secret Cabal decided to have some fun and think back on all the great series that have come and gone over Marvel’s six plus decades and choose which ones they felt deserved another shot at the big time. As a bonus this week, individual Cabal members wrote testimonial for some of their personal picks. And of course, for each candidate, you also get a special spotlight comic courtesy of Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited.
As always, these picks reflect the personal choices of the Secret Cabal, not the official opinion of Marvel or Marvel.com, and can be considered subjective at best.
I’m sad that Dazzler only made it to number 9. After reading Essential Dazzler the other week, I would happily write a new Dazzler series in a second. If I was, of course, a comic book writer.

Get me your pitch, McMillan.
I’ll put it in my pile.

I have to believe Jack Russell, TERRORIER was #11.

I would like to see Dazzler again, in stories that reflect real showbiz intrigue and inanities. It could be a great bridge to a wider audience.

Cloak and Dagger are way overdue for a relaunch of some kind although I suspect there may be something afoot.
Dazzler’s tough – I like the character but striking the right balance between awesome and kitsch is going to be a tough one.
The surviving unused New Mutants…now there’s a cast of characters that you can do something with. Lots of potential in Dacosta and Magma specifically, I think.

The surviving unused New Mutants and Cloak & Dagger, the main MU Power Pack, Shroud…now there’s a bunch of characters that you can do something with.

ROM should be in that list!

Dazzler is going to be in Brubaker and Fraction’s Uncanny issues. It was pretty great to see the glee on Jim McCann’s face when Fraction confirmed it at the panel at WWLA. I mean, I’m sure Jim already knew, but having it spoken in public that his favorite character was coming back seemingly injected him with a major case of the smileys.

Nice “reporting” there, Phegley.

Dazzler was just in Claremont & Ryan’s New Excalibur not that long ago….

Dazzler would be great for a Warren Ellis-scribed mini-series if they stripped out the disco element and just let him talk about the music that he cares about. Guy knows his dubstep from his filthy-blues-stomp.

Marvel would probably be more concerned with protecting trademarks than with renewing copyrights, but anyway. . . For people who work at a publisher, the Marvel personnel don’t seem to understand characters’ strengths and weaknesses very well. Hawkeye and Mockingbird were a dynamic couple, but Hawkeye, as a moody loner, is only as strong as his supporting cast, which is why he’s best suited for a group book, in which he can interact with a variety of personalities. Re Dr. Strange: The claim that “Bendis made him shine in NEW AVENGERS” was just ignorant. If Strange was a star in NEW AVENGERS, Tigra was a supernova.

Dazzler? This was the disco chick, right? People want to see her again because..? Sorry, not seeing the appeal.

Come on people those are way too likely to happen. What we need is a ongoing Moebius and Blade series set in Ireland written by Warren Ellis art by Leinil Francis Yu. Give Blade some dreeds and a addiction to Moebius’ blood. Come on people we NEED another buddy book to replace Cable and Deadpool. Then we go as over the top as possible. Plus we can kill two birds with one stone; each of them might end up with an ongoing.
