I have a white Rorschach. Where did those come from. It’s just like the one you have pictured above, except their is nothing black in the frame (that features text) outside the main picture. Any ideas?

Actually, the Nite Owl quote is in the book. Chapter 7, page 8. He doesn’t say “It’s all crap”, but he says the rest of it.

Excelente este trabajo de Snyder al lograr esta alta fidelidad con respecto a las obras del maestro Gibbons…podriamos estar ante la peli basada en un comic, mas fiel jamas filmada..

Thanks for posting these.

I have a hard cover version of Watchmen (that Graphitti published) but it only has four of these (Dr. Manhattan, the Comedian, Rorschach and Ozymandias) and all are quite small and badly reproduced.

The cornerstone in my personal collection is the original of the Dr. Manhattan ad. I do believe that it’s machinery he’s manipulating.

I remember the Rorschach ad very strongly. How can you forget a quote like that?

The irony about the Nite-Owl ad is that, to me at least, he transcended his own misgivings and the irony of being a fanboy in a silly costume and became the single most heroic character in the series.

In the Doctor Manhattan ad, it’s interesting to note that the complex machinery he’s disassembled looks a lot like the roofs of buildings in the city as seen from above. If you assume that Doctor Manhattan is floating face down hundreds of feet in the air, you can see what I mean. Lends added meaning to the “shadow of Manhattan” quote.

I appreciate the in depth discussion about these ads. However, I think you’re missing the point of what the characters photos we got last week were. Unlike these illustrations, they’re not suppose to be full blown ads but just a first look at the character designs for the fans. It would not have killed him to go for more details but that’s also not what he was trying to give on his blog. I’m sure the actual ad campaign will be very different.

Wow – I guess my memory’s faded enough that I have no recollection of these ads, even though I bought the whole series as it came out (and most DC comics, newstand and Baxter, for years previous).
